Creating the body of your website's message

    Website content and visitor interest

Once you have developed a website structure you must turn your attention to the individual pages that comprise the content of your website. And, if you plan on having a successful website you must concentrate on the interests and needs of your target audience as you compose your website content.

Website visitors don't stay long on a webpage that doesn't interest them. Within a few seconds the people visiting your website will decide to either stay or move on. In order to grab their attention be sure you present content that intrigues them. Make it succinct and to the point. Focus your website content on providing for the needs and interests of your visitors and they will stay awhile.

Remember, website visitors are looking for some specific information or product. They want to find this material in short order and without browsing content not pertaining to their interests. Compose your website content in such a way as to provide optimum clarity and always focus on the subject matter at hand. Don't digress from the substance of your message. Write your text comprehensively stay to the point and use white space to isolate ideas and areas of information.

    Presentation of website content

In order to gain your visitors interest you need to follow certain guidelines. They are:
    • Explain everything as succinctly as possible.

Keep sentences and paragraphs short and to the point in your website content. Be concise and focus on the core of your arguments or thoughts. Never stray from your main message.
    • Present information in a logical order.

Structure the content of your webpages in such a way as to provide a progression of thought. Present the main areas of your webpage layout in the form of a logical framework. Begin with your principle arguments and proceed with their development as you move down the page.
    • Articulate simply

Never be overly technical or obtuse in the language you use in your website content. Use words that you would use in normal everyday conversation. Always follow the rules of effective communication when developing your text. Remember, simple language is the best way to develop an understanding between you and your website visitors.

Be consistent on all of your web pages

Make sure that the appearance, layout and design of your website content remains consistent throughout every page of your site. This will give your visitors a sense of continuity as they peruse your webpages. Always keep your colors uniform and your website theme constant throughout your webpage construction.

    Add your website content gradually

If your website content exceeds more than 5 pages add the additional webpages a little at a time. Don't force yourself into rushing the full deployment of your website. Gradually release the additional content once you have established your site. This way you can concentrate your efforts on developing clear and focused website content.
