Forests of concrete and steel rising from the earth trying to touch the sky; this is the modern metropolis. Here many of us spend our entire lives, working, playing and dreaming. The city is an extension of those who reside there. An outward manifestation of the people who built it and those who inhabit it. It is a living thing brought to life by the sum total of its parts, the people. What can cities teach us about ourselves? This essay looks into the city and what makes it tick.
